1. What are the different methods and techniques of tattoo eyebrows?
Of all the facial features requiring semi-permanent makeup, the procedure to tattoo eyebrows is the most popular and comprehensive, but it includes several different techniques and methods, therefore your consultation session prior to the procedure is crucial to determine which method works best for your personal needs and facial features.
2. Microblading Method
Microblading, (also referred to as Microstroking, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows, or micro pigmentation, etc) is a semi-permanent makeup procedure originated from China. Microblading procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra-fine sterile needles and each hair stroke is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Hair strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hairs’ growth to achieve the hyper-realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrows and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their eyebrows or those who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age, alopecia or over-tweezed brows. Pigments (colour) used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow colour and skin tone / undertone will also be taken into consideration.
3. Digital / Pen Machine Method
The Digital Or Pen Machine is a motorised pen that although needs more precise work from it’s artist, it does penetrate the pigment (colour) deeper into the epidermis. The pen does all the work so the artist does not need to use a lot of pressure. The pen does make more noise than manual method but surprisingly enough it is as gentle on the skin and heals in most cases quicker than most manual methods, once the correct pressure and proper aftercare are followed through. The digital pen/machine is the more advanced option for your brow expert to be more creative with. This long-lasting method is suitable for all skin types including oily (oily skin types tend to break down pigment quicker as there is an overproduction of sebum). One piece of advise with the digital or pen machine is to ensure you choose a brow expert that specialises in not only this method but has in fact been trained in pigment knowledge, ensure they use a premium brand of pigments to prevent the healed result faded into undesirable colour. Love Brows specialise in this method and we have incorporated this method into our signature Feather Touch Brows using nanoneedles to create highly defined, crisp and perfect eyebrow for our clients.
4. Who Is eyebrow tattooing for?
Eyebrow tattooing is for people who want to look neat and groomed, but due to various reasons, they have lost their natural eyebrows, people who draw their eyebrows every day or those who just want to reshape their eyebrows. When a client has very few natural hairs, Feather Touch Brows technique is combined with Powder Mist Brows technique in order to get shadows that improve the volume. If you have extremely oily skin, the microblading technique may NOT work well for you. We can achieve the feather brow effect for you by using the digital machine instead of manual hand tool that gives you a more lasting result.
5. What pigments and tools do we use in our semi permanent makeup procedure?
Love Brows only use pigments from certified and reputable manufacturers. The brands that we use for our eyebrows, eyeliners and lips procedure are Phibrows, Li Pigments and Micro Pigmentation. We only use disposable sterile tools and needles in all our procedure.
6. What are the pre and post care procedures?
The following treatments are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:
- botox and fillers
- fruit or milk acids
- laser treatments
- chemical peelings
- exposure to strong sunlight
- Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 72 hours.
- Avoid tanning so we can assess your natural skin tone.
- If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so within a week of your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them.
- Feel free to come in with your brow makeup on so our technician can see your every day look you prefer. Reference pictures of shapes and colours of brows are always welcomed. We will then work together to create the perfect brows! Please proceed to post procedures aftercare for more information.
7. How long is the healing process?
It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness immediately following your procedure. This usually subsides within an hour or two. The first week following your treatment the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around week 2, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible. An enhancement (touch up) session visit approximately 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment is necessary in order to achieve that richness of colour and density in the shape. Find out more information on aftercare for cosmetic tattoos.
8. How long does it last?
Microbladed eyebrows typically last up to 3 years while machine method can last up to 5 years or more, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan, uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual’s colour retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, subsequent touch up is recommended between 10 and 12 months. With oily skin, it is up to 6 months. For eyeliner and lip procedures, pigments are implanted into the skin by means of the digital machine. These procedures generally last for up to 5 years after the first initial touch up.
9. Does it hurt?
The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. In all our cosmetic tattoo procedures, high quality anesthetic is applied for numbing during the procedure and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure.
